Jan L. Kardys
Jan L. Kardys’ diverse book publishing career includes executive positions at ten of the major book publishers – Doubleday, St. Martin’s Press, Scholastic, Macmillan, Charles Scribner’s Sons, Little, Brown & Company, Warner Books, Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, Lippincott & Crowell, Publishers, Simon & Schuster/Prentice Hall and Condé Nast Publications. Her experience and know-how are in editorial, art/production, subsidiary rights, contracts, copyrights, permissions, book agenting, editing, writer’s conferences, publishing consulting, and freelance editing. Jan worked for Google for three years where she added Internet sales and marketing to her already extensive expertise. She is the founder of Black Hawk Literary Agency, JanKardys.com, President of Unicorn for Writers, and is the chairman/founder of Unicorn Writers’ Conference. Maureen Mancini Amaturo
Maureen Mancini Amaturo is a freelance writer, poet, author of fiction for both the adult and children's markets, wife, and mother of two. Her poetry has been published by Beatlefest, in several national anthologies, and has become song lyrics for local bands. When her short story, “The Legend of Sleepy Harlem” won first place in a national competition, she was labeled “America’s next Flannery O’Connor.”
After a career of fashion and beauty writing, having had work published in several fashion magazines, global advertising, beauty catalogs, and on designer websites, Maureen saw fiction as a natural next step. She is founder of the Sound Shore Writers Group, Co-Chairman of Unicorn Writers Conference, is a fashion column contributor, conducts celebrity interviews, produces literary and performing arts events for a variety of venues, and teaches creative writing and fashion illustration classes to students of all ages. She has a B.A. in English and an MFA in Creative Writing.

Emily Cole Prescott
Emily began working for Unicorn Writers’ Conference, Inc. in 2010, and she has since worked in all areas of the conference planning. Passionate about English, Emily has worked for Unicorn for over five years, and has extensive experience in non-profit and local government administration. She has a Bachelors in English/American Comparative Literature, and enjoys playing golf, reading and learning as much as she can. Working for the Unicorn Writers’ Conference continues to be a great honor.
