Is it acceptable to approach agents and editors at the conference to introduce myself and my work?
Yes! This is a social networking party. We encourage you to speak openly about your work.
I am scheduled for review sessions. How do I submit my material to be reviewed in advance by the appropriate person/people?
You must follow the checklist available on our website at Manuscript Review Sessions. Please be sure that your submission adheres to the indicated guidelines.
What if I have special dietary requests because of food allergies?
Unicorn Writers’ Conference has posted the menu online that will be served at the conference. If you have a special need that requires a different menu item, we will discuss it with the Chef; however, we cannot guarantee that a dietary need will be accommodated.
What public transportation will take me to Reid Castle at Manhattanville College?

What is the nearest train station to Reid Castle at Manhattanville College?
There are three Metro-North train stations close to Manhattanville College: Valhalla, Rye, Hawthorne, White Plains. If planning to take public transportation to Manhattanville, you must arrange vehicle transport for your route from the train station to the College. Is there wi-fi available on site at the conference?
Yes, Reid Castle is equipped with wi-fi for all guests.
Will there be laptops available for use by attendees?
No, the computers available at the conference are for guest speakers, workshops and staff only. Attendees may bring their own computers if they wish. Unicorn Writers’ Conference and Reid Castle at Manhattanville College accepts no responsibility for attendees’ personal belongings.
Will I receive confirmation once my registration fee is paid?

When should I choose which workshops I want to attend?
You should select your workshops and plan out your day after you have received confirmation of your registration. However, if you plan to schedule any 1-1 review sessions, query letter review session, book synopsis review session, or flap copy session, you should wait to plan your workshop schedule until you have received your personalized schedule outlining the time(s) of any of the above, additional workshops. The remainder of the workshops will not require pre-registration. Workshop descriptions are disclosed on the workshop page of this site. These descriptions will enable you to select the workshops that best suit your writing career.
How will I know what time my one-to-one session(s), manuscript review session(s), query letter workshop session(s), book synopsis review session, or flap copy session will take place? How do I know where to go for these sessions or workshops?
After you have registered for the conference, it is your responsibility to email our Sessions Director at unicornbookings@gmail.com Emily Cole Prescott will work with you to create a personalized schedule for your day at the conference. What if my one-to-one review is scheduled during a workshop I want to attend?
We have a program that is packed with exceptional workshop offerings. It will take some thought to design the day to your best advantage. You must choose carefully based on your needs and goals as a writer.
May I request which agent, editor or speaker I would like for my one-to-one review?
Yes, by emailing unicornbookings@gmail.com you will be able to choose the agent, editor, and/or speaker that you would like to discuss your manuscript with during your one-to-one session(s). These sessions do sell out quickly, so unfortunately we cannot always guarantee that you will be able to schedule meeting(s) with the desired agent(s), editor(s), or guest speaker(s). The best way to ensure you meet with the desired person is to book your session(s) as early as possible.
Once I am scheduled for review session(s), may I change the agent, editor, speaker with whom I am scheduled?
Unfortunately, we cannot change the reservation once it is made. Once you are booked with an editor, agent or speaker, you cannot change to another or cancel the purchase. The $55 session fee is non-refundable.
How will I know which agent(s), editor(s), speaker(s) with which to book session(s)?
Please visit our genre chart for further information about which agents handle what genres. Take a moment to match the genre of your work with the agent who handles this genre. If you need more detailed questions answered, feel free to send an email to unicornbookings@gmail.com
Is there a limit to how many sessions I can schedule?
There is a limit of four sessions. Be watchful of conflicts if meetings with other agents, editors or speakers are of interest to you.
Do I have to book a separate session in order to attend the conference?
No, you do not need to book any additional sessions to attend the conference.
For on-site purchases of books, may I use a credit card, and which credit cards will be accepted?
Cash, checks, and credit card may be used to purchase books at the bookstore.
How can I buy books, DVDs, or t-shirts after the conference is over?

Will speakers autograph their books that are published the day of the conference?
Yes, our keynote speaker will be signing books at the conference for a limited time after the keynote address.
What is the latest date I can register for the conference?
You can register for the conference until the event is listed online as sold out.
What is the latest date that I can cancel my attendance for the 2015 conference?
The latest cancellation date is June 25, 2015.
If I must cancel my attendance, will I get a refund?
Yes, if the cancellation is prior to June 25, 2015.
What should I bring with me to the conference?
Bring any materials that would assist you in promoting your career and product, such as business cards, extra copies of your manuscript pages, and any promotional items you may have for your book.
