WRITING CHARACTER-BASED FICTION

Writers often focus on plot as something the characters move through, something imposed. In this talk and discussion, we'll look closely at character, at embodying our characters in a way that plot is created more from the characters than from the writer's wit. We'll examine setting, occupation, action, point of view, the internal and external of character in getting at how to create compelling characters and, as a consequence, emotionally powerful stories.
