Karen Romano is Vice President, Director of Production and Manufacturing, Adult Trade Division of Simon & Schuster, Inc. Her responsibilities include copyediting, interior design, paper purchasing, manufacturing, and e-book production. She began her career in publishing more than 30 years ago and has held various production and management positions at Praeger Publishers, McGraw-Hill, Macmillan, and Prentice-Hall. She has served on the Association of American Publishers (AAP) Commission for Textbook Specifications, and is a member of the AAP Paper Issues Working Group, which focuses heavily on environmental issues . Ms. Romano has been a speaker and panel participant at Pub Tech and NY Bookbinder’s Guild events, and served as a judge for various Literary Marketplace and New York Book Shows. In 2009, Ms. Romano was named by Book Business Magazine as one of the top 50 women in publishing.
