Jan Kardys, B.A. has over 30 years of diversified publishing experience for nine major corporations. She was the Director of Contracts at Warner Books/Little Brown & Co., Macmillan Publishing and Prentice Hall. She has also worked at Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, Doubleday, Scholastic, Lippincott & Crowell, Publishers and St. Martin’s Press in editorial, art, production, subsidiary rights/sales and in contracts, copyrights and permissions. She also worked for Google and therefore is intensly passionate about Internet marketing. Currently, she is a literary agent for Black Hawk Literary Agency. Jan also enjoys teaching writers with her book publishing classes at libraries, writers conferences, colleges, and continuing education. Maureen Mancini Amaturo

Co-Chairman Unicorn Writers’ Conference

Maureen Mancini Amaturo is a freelancer, poet, and writes fiction for both the adult and children's markets. After a career of fashion and beauty writing, Maureen saw fiction as a natural next step. She is founder of the Sound Shore Writers Group, actively involved in curating exhibits and producing shows for her local arts center, and teaches Fashion Illustration and Creative Writing to students of all ages.

George Brandt
Marketing Associate & Editorial Content Consultant
George A. Brandt has worked as a technical writer and trainer for several manufacturers of underwater life support equipment, as well as a regular contributor for Skin Diver Magazine.  He is most noted for his work as the project manager and technical trainer to the U.S. Navy for a Helicopter Aircrew Breathing Device (HABD) that was developed in 1997 by U.S. Divers/ Aqua Lung.
He is currently producing a different type of survival manual, written for men who are struggling as he has with the emotional quagmire of divorce.  His blog, which offers advice for men, can be found at dudesatmidlife.wordpress.com

Emily Cole

Marketing Director

Emily Cole began working for Unicorn Writers’ Conference, Inc. in 2010, and she has since worked in all areas of the conference planning. This year, Emily serves as the Marketing Director for the conference. She also works for Jan Kardys’s literary agency, Black Hawk. Additionally, Emily has worked with other non-profit organizations, and has extensive experience in her local government. Working for the Unicorn Writers’ Conference continues to be a great honor.
